Camp Quality raises money for more than 5,000 children living with cancer and their families. Horton Ella Communications was approached by Camp Quality to run one of their biggest annual fundraising events called esCarpade - a seven day motoring event throughout regional Australia to raise funds and awareness for Camp Quality.
In addition to operational responsibilities, Horton Ella Communications also had the task of producing the esCarpade Bible that is given to every entrant on the event. The Bible outlined the route and accommodation details and just as importantly, the safety and emergency procedures for the event.
In 2005 Horton Ella Communications introduced the first ever SEND A KID TO CAMP press and radio campaign, which incorporated messages of support from V8 Supercar drivers Greg Murphy and Dean Canto, rugby union legends Mark, Glen and Gary Ella, cricket legend Steve Waugh, marathon runner Steve Moneghetti and Sports Tonight presenter Ryan Phelan. TV, radio, press and website coverage increased approximately 40% on the previous year and reached an estimated 6 million people.
In 2004, the first year Horton Ella Communications was involved in the event, 32 entrants raised over $530,000 and in 2008, the last year Horton Ella Communications was involved, 50 entrants raised over $1,088,000 - the most ever in its 15 year history.
